No Wind

What can I say?

Just one more cool thing to see in Pleasantville. There's actually two of them, one here by the canals, and one at the organic farm. They, among others, are landmarks. We say things like, "Turn left at the fountains and follow the road a ways until you see the windmill. Turn left at the windmill and we're on the right side of the road."

Yep, we all need our landmarks. When we were pushed out of our small farm by the dad-gum developers they tore everything down and all the landmarks disappeared. Which I guess was a good thing because the whole area didn't look the same and i didn't even know where I was anymore (well not really) but you get the idea./ MB

Nice windmill, without wind ??
I like the nickname you gave yourself, it would suit me too !

I like the way the windmill's blades look. Good framing of the shot. Nice contrast, pretty sky!

Would have been extra cool if there were a bird or something for added interest. Being that it's nearby, you could try shooting it in all different conditions and see what you get! Maybe even put together a series or something. (Keep in mind I am an amateur myself, though!) :)

Thanks everyone for the comments thus far - they make me feel good about my pics and I love hearing your own stories.

Constructive critisism is always welcome too. I never take offense (unless it's abusive) because I really do want to get better.

What would we do without landmarks? Get lost, I suppose. Great picture!

Love the old windmill - maybe they'll come back in style again, though the new turbines look ultra-modern. I like the composition of your shot against the sky. Pleasantville must be...well - pleasant.

Thanks for stopping by mine. Am off to see the rest of your photos.

Cool windmill, it's beautiful against the blue sky. We are the land of wind turbines so it's nice to see the old style.

Windmills like this make wonderful landmarks. We don't see them much any more. Thanks for visiting my site.

Sounds like you have no need of GPS in your town.

I love directions like that, big signs direction.
Lovely photos

That´s a better landmark than a gas station, so you should be happy that you have it there.

The stillness of the windmill does indeed say 'no wind'. Very clever capture.

Cool windmill! The small town I live in has 2 that I know of. They sure are picturesque.

Great shot of a towering windmill and it looks so proud against that blue sky! Pleasantville, hmm, cool name for a town!
